This project offers a free “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence with Python” course for beginner-level refugees, specifically targeting Arabic language speakers in Malaysia. The course will be conducted at the Aura Insani Foundation Learning Space, with refugee instructors who are native Arabic speakers. This initiative aims to provide refugees with access to high-quality education, empower them economically and socially, and offer income-generating opportunities to refugee instructors.

1. Course Aims:

  • Skill Development: Equip refugees with foundational knowledge in Artificial Intelligence and Python programming.
  • Income Generation: Provide paid opportunities for refugee trainers and offer stipends for trainees, ensuring economic support throughout the course.
  • Community Empowerment: Create a supportive learning environment, fostering both technical and soft skills.
  • Social Integration: Enhance refugees’ ability to integrate into the workforce and community through valuable AI skills.

2. Target Audience:

  • Refugees: Arabic language speakers in Malaysia.
  • Prior Knowledge: No prior experience in Python programming or AI is required.
  • Age Group: Adult learners (18 years and older).

3. Course Structure:

Duration: 5 weeks, with 2 sessions per week (3 hours each), totaling 30 hours of learning.

  • Week 1: Introduction to Python and AI.
  • Week 2: Data Handling and Exploration.
  • Week 3: Building AI Models.
  • Week 4: Introduction to Natural Language Processing (NLP).
  • Week 5: Building Prompts and Final Project.

4. Key Subjects Covered:

  • Python Programming: Basic to intermediate Python concepts for AI.
  • AI Fundamentals: Introduction to machine learning and natural language processing.
  • Building AI Prompts: Creating effective prompts for AI models.
  • Hands-On Projects: Application of AI concepts through practical exercises.

6. Funding and Sustainability:

Funding Sources: The course will be funded through donations, sponsorships from local businesses, and philanthropic organizations, as well as external grants to cover all costs.

Sustainability: After the initial course, subsequent sessions will continue through donations, course sponsorships, and potential partnership funding, allowing for a self-sustaining cycle.

7. Info:

  • Instructor Compensation: Each refugee instructor will be compensated RM2,500 for the duration of the course, ensuring their dedication and sustainability as educators.
  • Meals: A small meal will be provided to each trainee at every session to ensure they have nourishment throughout the course, further supporting their well-being.
  • Course Fees Zero For refugees: The course will be free for refugees, and our organization seeks funding to cover all expenses through external charity funding, ensuring that refugees are not burdened by any costs to attend.
